I haven't posted here or anywhere for a long time for that matter. I'm here to tell you that I have recovered. I almost put this in quotes. I almost put an adjective in front to to lessen the impact of the statement or cast doubts into the minds of those who are reading this as to the actual level of recovery I have experienced. But I didn't because I'm better!
I no longer think about the injury much at all. I can go days without even thinking about it. I go to work, I enjoy my days and I have no complaints. None.
I had the epic burn for close to a year. For 7 months it was off the chart. Because of this I thought I was going to be a lifer for sure. So if you're out there and you feel that you're doomed to deal with this for life it may not be so.
I had cozied up to the lifers on Sciential and this probably wasn't the smartest thing for me to do. It was great for a couple of months then the harsh reality hit that this was going to be with me for a very long time. I was given good advice as to what vitamins to try but poor advice as to how to deal with medical professionals and lawyers. Also seeing individuals end their messages with "I'm 25 months into my ordeal" was too much for my weakened psyche.
Don't keep a pain journal as that will get you to fixate on the pain, don't waste all your money on the the advice of nameless faceless people who have no accountability to you.
Don't read the horror stories and pain poetry. This stuff brings me to tears. These are very damaged people who my heart goes out too, but in order to beat this you must try an deny the injury the ability to take all that you've worked so hard for, your hopes and your dreams. Try to dig your self out and rebuild your life, create a new one or do a bit of both.
If you have any questions about what I did to get better please feel free to ask. Trolls will not gain the satisfaction of having their comments posted.

U post has inspired me.. Im so glad to hear a recovery story. Im 2 minths in after an injury to my lingual nerve possibly caused by the removal of my wisdom tooth. I have this horrible burning an I too am starting to think this is the life im looking at now. Please email me I would love to hear more about ur recovery! My email is loganrenoe@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteHi Logan! I am you from the future and you are me from the past! Haha
DeleteI am dealing with this exact issue now... numb tongue on left side after lower wisdom tooth extraction. It has only been 5 days for me so far... wondering if you fully recovered? And how long it took? Thanks so much :)
I see that these are old posts.....I have found information from others to be very disheartening and discouraging. Saw an oral surgeon today who concluded that I do, in fact, have lingual nerve damage, and need to see a neurologist. He thinks Lyrica might help. Reading about that makes it a terrifying prospect.....I am doing my best to stay hopeful, but there are days when that is hard to do. If you are still posting on this site, would appreciate any other advice you might be able to offer. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHi Janice! I've just started dealing with this as well and am wondering how you are doing now 4 months later?
DeleteKev, Can you tell us more about cold laser? And where--what kind of place- did you have it done?
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Did any of the replies get better ? Does the burning go down ?

DeleteLeft side of my tongue is numb been a little over a month now.anxiety is so high and don't sleep.saw three dentists they all say they think I'm going to get better.feels burning and tingling.has anyone else recovered from this injury?
ReplyDeleteI Healed too!
ReplyDeleteI had left side numbness back to front of my tongue after a routine lower cavity procedure. Its taken 6 months+ to recover but aside from some minor altered sensation on the tip and sour taste recently I have recovered. I believe the 2 lingering symptoms will recover with more time.
I second the following treatments:
Vitamin B (liquid complex) Fish Oil Vitamin C
Find a good Accupuncturist - Very helpful!!You will need to go many times not a quick fix, go weekly, but it was a huge turning point for me.
I completely freaked out when this happened to me. It is SO distressing. But you will heal! It took me 3 months before I began to notice significant change. 3-6 months for the main healing.
Am currently suffering from the same,Iam into my 2nd month and my life is still miserable. Will I ever recover from this and how long will it take.
